ANTIQUE TREASURE
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

After rebuilding the eight wonders of the world and celebrating together in Byzantium, my paths with friends diverged. Bjarni and his family set off for their native Greenland, accompanying Sigurd to the home along the way. I, on the other hand, prepared to return to Arabia.

<usericon:2,30>

When I was about to sail away from Byzantium, a men at the port gave me a map. At first, I thought it was just the map of some land with a large lake, but after a closer look, I saw I got the treasure map!

If we followed the description, we are there. I'm thinking, it would be good to set up a small village her to build a ship for lake exploration.

HEADQUATERS DESTROYED
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

<usericon:1,358,224>

When we lost the headquaters, our people have lost their enthusiasm for action. Mission failed!
[blockend:502]

[blockstart:503]
After I sailed to the treasury, it turned out that it was actually on the island, but locked.

<usericon:1,237,297>

None of my methods succeeded in breaking the gate's security, which is the most solid I've ever seen. The high, thick walls also are a solid protection.

However, I see the towers of a town on the horizon, across the lake. Perhaps it knows something about the treasure? I think it's worth a visit.
[blockend:503]

[blockstart:504]
<font:$local$\fonts\fonthead16bld.fnt>
PORT TOWN
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

I reached the town, which was visible from the island. They didn't look at me or my men with any enthusiasm, but they allowed us to enter.

<usericon:1,128,332>

I started ask citizens about treasure and i gave different answers:

"We have, but we don't give it."
"Treasure? Like similiar to "taming" in Polish - tresura!"
"I'll sell a oxcart."
"We have a war with Byzantines and you are talking about some treasure?"
"Allahu Akbar."

Finally, I went to town hall and met the Town's leader. He answered my questions as follows:

"Yes, this is our treasure and we don't plan on giving it away, it's too valuable. And besides, that's not the most important problem right now - we're fighting a hard war with the Byzantines from the north, who want to take our town (and the treasure, by the way) and convert us all... So no, let's not pursue this topic any further, because we won't open the treasury, and if you force your way in, you'll regret it bitterly, my Saracen brother."

After this talk, I decided there was nothing for me to do here at the moment. But perhaps I could learn more from the Byzantines, whom the Town Leader and some of the inhabitants had spoken of. So I continued my travel.

<usericon:1,176,124>

[blockstart:505]
<font:$local$\fonts\fonthead16bld.fnt>
BYZANTINES
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

After a short travel I reached Byzantines' town, with whom the Saracens of this region are at war.

<usericon:1,176,124>

Here I also decided to ask people about the treasure:

"Do you wanna take back what gonna be ours?"
"I have good and bad news. Bad news: it doesn't work. Good news: I have a clone of the treasury key."
"Oh, you Saracens, you're always greedy for goods. We're all the same, but shh, at least we're not pagans."
"Devs vvlt."
"I'd be happy to share it with you if you could help in the war against the Saracens. But it's not up to me to decide..."

Then I went to the leader of their town, who listened to my questions:

"Those barbaric Saracens, responsible for many crimes against Christians, possess this treasury, but it's not a priority right now, although it would be good if we had the keys to it. But now we have to convert them and bring them back to order. And really... what will I explain to the Saracen? You should be glad that you're the hero and I don't have to neutralize you right away."

All I can do now is think about what to do next....
[blockend:505]

[blockstart:506]
After some thought and a conversation with my villagers, I decided there was only one way to get to the treasure: to participate in the war on one side. Since the Byzantines considered the keys to the treasury a bonus, if I helped them, they would probably share it or even give it to us. On the other hand, the Port Town could give it to us in exchange for helping them destroy the Byzantines.

I need to consider which side to take. If the Saracen option has more advantages, I should visit their headquarters.

<usericon:1,128,332>

But if Byzantine option is better, I havto meet with their leader again.

BYZANTINES DESTROYED
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

After many battles, the Byzantine town finally was in ruins. So we went to negotiate with the Saracens and requested the keys to the treasury, as was in contract:

<usericon:1,128,332>

"Key... bitte! This is the key you have been striving for";

"But not like this... it is the key to the lock on the house door. It was supposed to be for the treasury" - I replied;

"We don't give him anything. We are too emotionally attached to him.";

"But contract...";

"The contract is just a piece of paper, we changed our minds."

I have felt cheated and used... it made me want to raid them... after all, I'd definitely get the key then. Hatchi's revenge would be sweet!
[blockend:509]

[blockstart:510]
"You vile cheaters!

<usericon:1,114,332>

We allowed you to attack the Byzantines and this is how you repay us? Oh no, that's too much! We gonna wipe you out like those Christians - all contracts are broken!"

"It was mainly us who destroyed them, and besides, it was no mercy that you allowed it... besides, you were the ones who broke the contract with the key" - I said;

"We didn't have any contract!"

I have walked through the ruins of a former town. A bit sad, but it's their own fault - pacta sunt servanda. Maybe we gonna rebuild it, but my way, with new, better people.

But what is important is that we have the keys to the treasury! It's time to sail back to the island and finally open the door.

<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

We have managed to seize the island's treasury and its valuables! They're bigger than I suspected...

<usericon:1,230,308>

In a moment, we gonna transport these riches to our village and put them to some useful use. Perhaps to rebuild the town here, perhaps for our settlement, or perhaps we'll simply bask in them and shower all our soldiers with gold. These are considerable sums, and now I understand why the Saracens decided against returning the key. Now we just have to make sure no one takes it from us.

But whatever you say, this expedition was very successful for me, it reminds me a bit of the ones near Baghdad... but then something happened...

I visited the Byzantine ruler, expressing my willingness to join the war against the Port Town. I emphasized that the treasury could be opened after the war as a reward, but only as an option, so as not to create pressure.

<usericon:1,176,124>

"We didn't expect this from you, but of course! Compared to those others, you have a clean slate. If you help destroy those pagans, you gonna get an indulgence! We gonna gladly take advantage of your willingness. As for the treasury, we don't care about it. Take it after the war, we gonna be satisfied with the loot from the town.

But first, before we go into all-out war, show us what you are made of. Build and deliver two catapults to the town!"
[blockend:513]

[blockstart:514]
"Very well crafted weapon, you actually inherited the know from Rome!

"But what?" - I replied;

"Our scouts reported that the riches there were much greater than we thought. So we decided to take it over.";

"But concract...";

"You Saracens, don't be foolish, you plunder so much and still want more gold? We deserve something from life too."

SARACENS
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

Beyond the mountains, we encountered other Saracens. They lived in a somewhat isolated area, on the other side of the lake from the other towns, and were clearly uninterested in matters beyond the water. The settlement itself is quite new.

<usericon:1,375,126>

It is clear they are isolating themselves quite a bit from the rest... a lot. They attacked us immediately. Maybe a small gift will change their minds about us a bit?

And we lack it because the pottery's capacity has been reduced in favor of military production. And what can I say, we could use a lot of new crockery to make better food for our husbands and sons."

[blockend:541]

[blockstart:542]
On the way I came across probably the smallest lake I have ever seen in my life.

<usericon:1,52,195>

It looks more like a puddle than a lake, it is shallow, but there are reeds growing and even fish swimming around!
[blockend:542]

[blockstart:543]
In the south we found a human grave.

<usericon:1,340,435>

[blockend:543]

[blockend:544]

[blockstart:545]
It looks like someone was shipwrecked here recently.

<usericon:1,280,124>

[blockend:545]

[blockstart:546]
We found an anomaly in the middle of the desert - what is a spruce doing here?

<usericon:1,80,19>

<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

As we traveled along the road, we came across a small village called Al-Lage by its few inhabitants.

<usericon:1,228,388>

Few, because there is epidemia in the village:

"The last few weeks have been difficult for us, as almost all citizens have contracted a disease that hasn't plagued us for a long time - lickmy. Most of our comrades are bedridden, barely able to move, and are in big pain. We only have one doctor in the village at the moment, but he's much elder than we. Nevertheless, go to him..."

<usericon:1,238,392>

"We can defeat lickmy, but unfortunately I can barely walk anymore, and those who aren't sick have to guard the village from the bad guys. Please, find me 5 kinds of herbs from this land, which will be the ingredients of a potion that will cure the disease. If I remember correctly, one of the herbs is in the middle of the lake, so... so... and that's it."

LICKMY DEFEATED
<font:$local$\fonts\font12.fnt>

After receiving the ingredients, the doctor began to create a medicine, which was then given to the villagers.

A few days later, there was no trace of the lickmy in Al-Lage. The villagers were very grateful and opened their warehouses to us. If we wanted, we could also seek cheap mercenaries from village.

Residents
The villagers also warned us about one thing:

"Lickmy is relatively common in this oasis, and it's difficult to get rid of without medicine. A severe form of lickmy can irreversibly transform a person into a snake, so be careful in this land..."
